This homemade honey mustard sauce is gluten, dairy, and soy-free. It’s made with just 3 ingredients and is perfect for dipping. We love it with chicken fingers, on grilled turkey burgers, or with my Healthy Leftover Ham Recipe. This recipe is so easy and delicious, you’ll never go back to store-bought honey mustard again.

How do you make Honey Mustard Sauce from Scratch?

To make this 3-ingredient honey mustard sauce all you need are mayonnaise, dijon mustard, and honey. If you like spicy honey mustard sauce just add in 1/8 tsp of cayenne pepper or a few dashes of red pepper flakes.

Steps

  1. Add 4 tablespoons of mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons of dijon mustard, and 1 tablespoon of honey to a small mixing bowl.
  2. Stir the ingredients together.
  3. Cover and chill for about 15 minutes before serving.

The ingredients in this recipe are available at your local grocery store, but I purchase all the ingredients from Thrive Market. My Favorite Brands

For this recipe, I use Primal Kitchen Mayo made with avocado oil, Thrive Market Organic Dijon Mustard, and Really Raw Honey. The mayo and dijon mustard are gluten, soy, and dairy-free and there are no added sugars or sweeteners. The honey is just that, raw honey, with nothing else added.

Is Honey Mustard Healthy?

Most store-bought honey mustard sauces and dressings contain preservatives, added sugars, and unhealthy fats. Many of them also contain some of the top 8 allergens, which is why I prefer to make my own.

Is There a Difference Between Honey Mustard Sauce and Honey Mustard Dressing?

Yes. Honey mustard sauce is made with mayonnaise as the main ingredient. It is thicker and mainly used for dipping. Honey mustard dressing is made with oil as the main ingredient. The dressing is lighter and used for salads and glazes.

Ingredients

  • 4 Tbsp Mayonnaise
  • 2 Tbsp Dijon Mustard
  • 1 Tbsp Honey
  • 1/8 tsp Cayenne Pepper OR 2-3 dashes Red Pepper Flakes optional for extra spicy sauce

Instructions

  • Add 4 tablespoons of mayonnaise to a small mixing bowl.
  • Add 2 tablespoons of dijon mustard.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of honey.
  • Stir together with a spoon.
  • Cover and chill for up to 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

Calories are approximate and based on a 1 Tablespoon serving.
For spicy honey mustard sauce stir in 1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper or 2 dashes of red pepper flakes.

Since August, I've been adjusting to a new season in my life. We sent our only child Paige to college and it's been very difficult for me. I needed time to embrace this season, and sit in the sadness and disappointment for a while. I had to take a break from my blog and social media.

TIP #1: MAKE A WEEKLY MEAL PLAN.
Creating a meal plan does not have to take hours of your time. With a little practice, it can be done quickly.
TIP #2: USE LEFTOVERS.
The best way to do this is to make one meal and use the leftovers for another meal.

One of the biggest motivators for my recipes is my family. I am big on sharing family meals and dinners. I mean it seriously just warms my heart when we all come together and share a meal. 
That feeling of connection through food is so universal. When I was first diagnosed with food allergies it felt like I lost that connection. 
Another HUGE motivator for me is YOU! Yes, that's right YOU! I want you and your family to feel that connection through sharing meals together despite food allergies.
    Ooooooh friend, I know it’s easy to get caught u Ooooooh friend, I know it’s easy to get caught up in the morning rush, but take a few moments to start your morning off on the right foot. 
Suggestion to start off on the right foot, make a gratitude list while you sip your cup of coffee. Whatever you do, I bet you’ll be surprised by how much of an impact it will make on the rest of your day!
