Are Tacos Gluten-Free?

In order for tacos to be gluten-free, consider the seasonings you use in the meat, the taco shells or tortillas you use, and any cross-contamination that may occur. Many restaurant tacos are NOT gluten-free because the taco seasoning may contain gluten ingredients, the tacos are served on flour tortillas, and the tacos may be cooked in oils, etc, with gluten-containing foods. When eating tacos at a restaurant check with the staff about the ingredients they use to make sure they are gluten-free.

Are Corn Tacos Gluten-Free?

Yes. Corn tacos are gluten-free because they are made from corn which is a naturally gluten-free food. Check all labels carefully for a full list of ingredients.

For more information on reading labels for allergens check out Allergy-Free Shopping.

Are Tortillas Gluten-Free?

Tortillas made from corn are gluten-free. Regular flour tortillas are not gluten-free. There are many tortillas now made with rice and other ingredients that are gluten-free. Check the ingredients carefully.

The Best Gluten-Free Tortillas
