Craving a classic milkshake, but can't have dairy? Well, I've got you. This simple, dairy-free milkshake is rich, creamy, and so delicious you'll never miss the dairy.

Milkshakes are my favorite. Vanilla milkshakes, chocolate milkshakes, strawberry milkshakes, it doesn't matter. Something about the rich and creamy texture I just can't ignore. Even as a child, I craved milkshakes. When I was diagnosed with a dairy allergy as an adult and couldn't have them I was devastated.

Alas, my dairy-free milkshake recipe was born. So if you're allergic or intolerant to dairy no problem. This dairy-free milkshake is for you! Enjoy!

INGREDIENTS

  • Dairy-free milk - Use your favorite dairy-free milk in this recipe. I use Planet Oat Extra Creamy Original Oat Milk.
  • Dairy-free vanilla ice cream - Use your favorite frozen dairy-free ice cream or frozen dessert for this recipe, or try my Dairy-Free Ice Cream Recipe.
  • Vanilla

H3 Optional Mix-ins - add any of the following to your milkshake for a tasty twist

  • 1/2 cup berries
  • 2 tablespoons chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup cereal or granola
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 2 cookies (try my Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip Cookies) broken into small pieces

How to Make Dairy-Free Milkshakes

  2. Set the blender on medium-high speed, or use the frozen dessert setting on your blender, and process until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  3. Pour into glasses.
  4. Top with my Dairy-Free Whipped Cream for an extra treat.

What Dairy-Free Milk is Best for Milkshakes?

Any dairy-free milk will work. I suggest using dairy-free milk with a creamy consistency such as almond, cashew, or oat. This will give your milkshake that creamy texture and rich taste. I use Planet Oat Extra Creamy Original Oat Milk in this recipe. Also, remember using dairy-free milk such as almond milk may alter the taste slightly.

Vegan Milkshakes

This recipe is easily modified into a vegan milkshake recipe. Simply substitute vegan ice cream in place of the dairy-free ice cream in this recipe.

Vegan Ice Cream Brands

Here are a few of the most popular vegan ice cream brands available at some local grocery stores, Whole Foods, or online. Remember to check the ingredients carefully for other allergens. For help with reading labels for allergens check out my Allergy-Free Shopping Post.
