Berry Fruit Salad Recipe

This berry fruit salad makes a great dessert or side dish. Bring it to your Memorial Day celebration, a barbeque, or a picnic. This recipe is so simple it only has a few ingredients and takes just minutes to make. Pair it with my Dairy-Free Whipped Cream Recipe to make a healthy, summer dessert. How To Make This Simple Berry Fruit Salad

This is a mixed berry salad. I use all the summer berries, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries for this recipe. It is easily made with only 1 type of berry or any combination. The choice is yours.

  1. Wash and rinse the berries in a colander and carefully pat dry with a towel. I love these towels (paid Amazon link).
  2. On a cutting board, hull and slice the strawberries.
  3. Add all the berries, 1 variety at a time to a large serving bowl.
  4. Mix gently with a large spoon.
  5. Cover and store in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Recipe Variations

Make a blueberry fruit salad or raspberry fruit salad. Just double the number of berries.

I like to add a sliced banana over the top. Make sure to add this right before serving.

For extra sweetness sprinkle 1 tsp sugar, or drizzle 1 tsp honey over the top.

Add a whipped cream topping. Check out my dairy-free whipped cream recipe here.

How To Keep Fruit Salad From Getting Soggy?

Drain any excess juices from the fruit before storing them. This will prevent it from becoming soggy.

Will Fruit Salad Keep Overnight?

Yes. Just be sure to store it in an airtight container with a lid or in a sealed plastic storage bag. Fruit salad stays fresh in the refrigerator for up to 3-5 days.

What Stops Fruit Salad From Turing Brown?

Adding lemon juice to your fruit will prevent it from turning brown. Mix a solution of 1 tablespoon of lemon juice with 1 cup of water and cover the fruit completely. I also use Sprite or 7-UP. These work just as well as lemon juice to prevent fruit from turning brown. Use just enough to cover the fruit completely. I typically use about 1/2 cup. Make sure to rinse your fruit before serving.

Is It OK To Cut Up Fruit The Night Before?

Yes. just be sure to store it in the refrigerator in an airtight container. I also recommend adding lemon juice solution to prevent your fruit from turning brown.

Can You Freeze Fruit Salad?

Yes. Place the fruit in a sealed plastic storage bag. Make sure to get all of the air out before sealing the bag. Fruit will keep in the freezer for up to 6 months. Defrost it in the refrigerator overnight when ready to use.

I hope you enjoy this recipe! Leave me a comment and let me know when you make it. I’d love to hear how your summer is going.

Blessings, Laura xo

Another HUGE motivator for me is YOU! Yes, that's right YOU! I want you and your family to feel that connection through sharing meals together despite food allergies.
